Specialized care for the health of your skin and hair.

Dermatology is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of skin, hair, and nail diseases, as well as the early detection of skin cancer. At Aeger Prima, this follow-up is done by a specialized team, with personalized consultations and adequate technology for rigorous diagnosis, either in a clinical or aesthetic context.

Most common diseases and conditions

The most frequent reasons for consultation in dermatology include:

  • ✔
Acne, at all stages of life, from adolescence to adulthood
  • ✔
Atopic dermatitis, eczema, and other inflammatory dermatoses
  • ✔
Psoriasis and other chronic skin diseases
  • ✔
Rosacea and vascular changes in the skin of the face
  • ✔
Spots on the skin, freckles, and changes in pigmentation
  • ✔
Changes in hair, such as hair loss (alopecia) or oily scalp
  • ✔
Nail problems, including fungal infections (onychomycosis)
  • ✔
Viral warts and other benign skin lesions
  • ✔
    Urticaria and allergic skin reactions
  • ✔
Suspicion of pre-malignant or malignant skin lesions

Skin cancer screening

One of the central pillars of the dermatology consultation is the prevention and early detection of skin cancer, through:

  • ✔
Complete clinical observation of the skin, with attention to signs, spots, and suspicious lesions
  • ✔
Dermatoscopy, a magnification technique that allows for a more detailed analysis of pigmented lesions
  • ✔
Regular follow-up of signs (nevi) already identified, especially in people with risk factors
  • ✔
Evaluation of cases with family history of melanoma or other skin cancers
  • ✔
Guidance on photoprotection and sun exposure habits, essential in prevention

Early detection is crucial in the success of skin cancer treatment, so it is recommended to have a screening consultation at least once a year, with greater frequency in people at higher risk.

Available treatments

In addition to diagnosis, Aeger Prima offers medical and dermatological treatments, including:

  • ✔
Pharmacological treatment of acne, rosacea, and inflammatory dermatoses
  • ✔
Removal of benign skin lesions, such as warts or fibromas
  • ✔
Skin biopsies, when necessary for diagnostic confirmation
  • ✔
Cryotherapy for the treatment of specific lesions
  • ✔
Guidance and treatment for hair loss
  • ✔
Advice and treatment plans for sensitive skin or with allergic tendency

When to book a dermatology consultation

You don't have to wait for severe symptoms to see a dermatologist. However, there are signs that justify a consultation as soon as possible:
  • ✔
Change in size, shape, color, or borders of a skin sign or spot
  • ✔
Lesion that bleeds, itches, hurts, or doesn't heal
  • ✔
Appearance of a new lesion with rapid growth
  • ✔

    Sudden or progressive hair loss
  • ✔
    Persistent changes in nails
  • ✔
Skin eruptions without apparent cause or that don't improve with usual treatment

Additionally, it is recommended to have a routine screening consultation at least once a year, even without symptoms, especially in people with fair skin, many signs, frequent sun exposure, or relevant family history.

What to expect from a dermatology consultation

In a first consultation, the doctor performs a complete evaluation of the skin, scalp, and nails, collecting the clinical history, sun exposure habits, and any family history. When indicated, dermatoscopy is used for a more detailed analysis of specific lesions. Based on the evaluation, the doctor defines a follow-up, treatment, or, if necessary, indicates the performance of complementary exams, such as a biopsy.

Frequently asked questions

Common doubts about dermatology

How often should I have a skin screening consultation?
It is recommended, in general, to have a screening consultation at least once a year, with greater frequency in people with risk factors, such as many signs, fair skin, or family history of skin cancer.
Do I need a medical referral to book a dermatology consultation?
No, you don't need a referral, you can book a dermatology consultation directly at Aeger Prima.
Is dermatoscopy painful?
No, it's a non-invasive technique that uses a magnification device to observe the skin in greater detail, without any discomfort for the patient.
Are all skin spots a cause for concern?
Not necessarily, but any change in an existing sign or the appearance of a new and different lesion should be evaluated by a dermatologist.
Does the consultation include an evaluation of hair and nails?

Yes. Dermatology follows the health of the skin, but also of the hair, scalp and nails, whenever there is this indication.
