Early Obstetric Ultrasound (6–12 weeks)
Early Pregnancy Scans for Reassurance

The early obstetric ultrasound is performed between 6 and 12 weeks of pregnancy. This exam is essential to confirm the pregnancy, determine gestational age, and assess the initial conditions of the baby’s development. It is particularly recommended for first-time mothers or women with a history of high-risk pregnancies.

How is Early Obstetric performed?

Early obstetric ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive procedure performed to assess the pregnancy during its initial weeks. The ultrasound probe is moved over the abdomen, using a conductive gel to enhance image clarity. This method is commonly used and provides a general view of the uterus and the developing pregnancy.

Early Obstetric Ultrasound Equipment

At our clinic, we use the GE Voluson E10 to perform early obstetric ultrasounds. This high-tech equipment provides sharp and detailed images, essential for precise evaluations during the first weeks of pregnancy, offering safety and peace of mind for the mother and proper monitoring of the baby’s initial development.

Benefits of Early Obstetric Ultrasound:
  • Confirmation of Early Pregnancy Health: The exam verifies initial development and identifies potential risks early.
  • Accuracy in Gestational Age: Helps calculate the expected due date and monitor the baby’s growth throughout the pregnancy.
  • Peace of Mind for the Mother: By confirming the embryo’s health and development, it provides reassurance for future parents.
